FAQ’s

How long have you been in the business?

I have many years of website and graphic design experience. In March of 2012, I launched this website and officially started offering my services to the public. In September 2013, I officially branded my business, launched a complete website renovation and became Quirki Website Design. Same great prices with an even greater website design experience!

Why is your service so cheap?

It’s simple: I work solo from my home office, so I am able to charge less. My focus is providing websites for small businesses or individuals at low prices to keep start up costs low. I strive to be that alternative solution when all other services are charging too much. With me, you can expect to receive the same quality of service and final product. I have been told time and time again that I could charge $1500+ for the same service, but I just haven’t brought myself to raising my prices. I enjoy helping people and being the solution to a tight budget.

I have been solicited by businesses (especially Rogers Communication) stating that they will build a website and a mobile-compatible website if I pay them $3000.00 – $4000.00 (either at once or by monthly payment). You have already prepared these materials for a fraction of that cost. I believe that you are providing a service for an amount that is substantially less than what is offered by the professional companies and that fact should be reflected in your webpage. -Daniel Gloade, Barrister and Solicitor

What is the process in getting a website from you?

Once you have received your quote and you would like to move forward, I will send you a Project Outline which includes an invoice so you can purchase your package. I then send you an email with some starting questions asking what you hope to see with your website (colours, layout, home page elements, list of pages you’d like included, etc.). I will then get started on a website demo, starting with the structure and home page layout. This will give you some time to prepare any written content and images you’d like included in your website. Once you are pleased with the website demo, we will put your site live! I provide full details on how to maintain your website.

How long does it take for you to complete a website?

You will find that I am a very quick designer. I devote my time diligently to each project. Of course, every situation is different, but generally it takes me a week or so to get you a first draft of your website demo. If everything goes smoothly and you can respond to my emails promptly, we should be able to launch your website in a couple to a few weeks. Every situation is different, but we can always set a goal and aim for that.

What is WordPress?

WordPress is a web content management system. It was originally created as a tool to publish blogs but has evolved to support publishing other web content, including more traditional websites, Internet forum, media galleries, membership sites, learning management systems and online stores. Available as free and open-source software, WordPress is among the most popular content management systems – it was used by 43.1% of the top 10 million websites as of December 2023.

In plain English? It’s what I will use to build your website, and afterwards, you will be able to login and edit your site with it. It’s free and it gives us endless possibilities for your website!

How do I use WordPress?

Once your site is launched, you will be provided with a login to your site where you can use the easy editor to manage your website content. I provide a full tutorial on how to use WordPress.

Do you guarantee SEO results?

I am asked this repeatedly and the answer is no. No one can (or should) guarantee SEO results (and be wary of companies that claim they can). Google is a mystery. Its secretly guarded algorithm makes it challenging for anyone to predict its criteria in ranking higher in google. There are a myriad of tips and tricks out on the web and I have collected them and put them into action. What I have found is that they work! So I will continue to do what has proven to work. But, again, I cannot guarantee you #1, first page or even an improvement since every situation is different. What matters is not rank but the relevance of your content to keep visitors, so that should be our focus.
